Thanksgiving Outreach

We were in the middle of our turkey outreach and I looked out into the crowd and saw a mom in TEARS! Thinking immediately that something had happened, I raced over to her to check on her.  I asked “Ma’am are you ok?”  She said, “I’m sorry I’m crying!  But you bringing these turkeys today was an answer to prayer!  My kids usually eat free at school, but with them out of school this week for the holiday, I didn’t know how I was going to feed them!  I prayed ‘God please provide somehow’ and here you are!”  She wiped the tears from her eyes, was overwhelmed with gratefulness as she squeezed my neck and said “Thank you for being an answer to my prayers!”

You see folks, every year for Thanksgiving we host a turkey drive. We round up frozen turkeys from all over the city of Fort Worth with the intent of blessing EVERY Metro family with a turkey for the Thanksgiving holiday. The reality is that for most of us, a turkey for Thanksgiving means a HUGE meal on Thanksgiving day for our whole family to sit around and enjoy! For these Metro families, it means so much more than that.

One turkey can make all the difference in the world!  One turkey can feed a family for a week!  One turkey can show a precious family in the inner city that someone cares!  One turkey can be an answer to prayers!
